Wisconsin Classic Stage
Classical theater in Milwaukee exists because people believe in it. Your support makes the work possible — on stage, in the studio, and in the community.
Why It Matters
Wisconsin Classic Stage operates on the belief that world-class classical theater belongs in Milwaukee — not one day, but now. We keep our houses intimate, our productions fearless, and our ticket prices accessible so that the work reaches people who need it.
Your donation sustains the company between productions, supports our Actors Studio training program, and enables us to take the artistic risks that define our work. Without individual support, none of this exists.
A noble and notably ambitious first outing for a new company.

Community Commitment
For our production of The Persians, $2 from every ticket sold directly benefits WarChild — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting, educating, and standing up for the rights of children affected by war and armed conflict worldwide. We chose The Persians, the oldest anti-war play in recorded history, to open our season intentionally. The connection between ancient art and urgent humanity is not accidental. It is the point.
That instinct — that a production should answer to something larger than itself — runs through everything we build. A season is not a slate of plays. It is a set of promises: to the artists who make the work, to the audience who receives it, and to the wider theatre community all of us share. Dynamic, enthralling production is the visible half of that. What follows is the rest.
The WCS Actors Studio is a year-round training ground in Viewpoints, Suzuki, and classical text — and it exists to send artists outward, not to keep them. Wisconsin's theatre community is genuinely exceptional, and the studio is our contribution to it: performers who walk into a room anywhere in this state with a trained instrument, a working vocabulary, and the discipline to use both.
Every artist we train is an investment in every stage here, not only ours.
An instrument only grows where it is allowed to break. Our studio and our rehearsal hall are built as places where actors can lean hard into the difficult thing — the unfamiliar text, the physical risk, the choice that may not land — without fear of being quietly written off for it.
Failure is not a detour around craft. It is the road. We would rather work with an artist who reaches past their reach than one who has learned to stay safe, so we build rooms where reaching costs nothing.
We invest in two directions at once. Toward the audience: we study how attention actually behaves — how a room settles, where it leans in, what a person in a seat is living through minute to minute — and we design each production around that encounter instead of assuming it.
Toward the artist: professional development is a standing commitment, not a perk. Training is affordable, scholarship-supported, and priced so that no one is kept out of their own growth.
A direct gift to Wisconsin Classic Stage goes immediately to work — sustaining productions, supporting artists, and keeping classical theater alive in Milwaukee. Every amount matters.
